Hugin Bud — Privacy Policy

1. About Hugin Bud

Hugin Bud is a privately developed, noncommercial artificial intelligence assistant operated by Martin R. (“the operator”) for personal productivity and automation. It is intended exclusively for use by its operator and is not offered to the general public.

2. Google Account Data Accessed

Hugin Bud connects to a single Google account (huginbud@gmail.com) using OAuth 2.0 authorization. The application requests only the permissions it needs:

Gmail

• Email messages, subjects, senders, recipients, message content, and related metadata.

• Permission to organize (label, archive) and send email messages.

Google Calendar

• Event titles, descriptions, dates, times, locations, and attendees on calendars shared with the account.

• Permission to create and update calendar events.

Hugin Bud does not access Google Drive, contacts, or any other Google service.

3. How Google User Data Is Used

Hugin Bud uses Google user data only to provide personal assistant functionality for the operator: sorting and summarizing incoming email, notifying the operator of important messages, drafting or sending email at the operator’s request, and adding events to the operator’s calendar.

Google user data is not used for advertising, profiling for advertising purposes, selling information, or determining creditworthiness.

4. Artificial Intelligence Processing and Third-Party Sharing

Hugin Bud uses Anthropic’s Claude API to interpret requests and generate responses. When necessary to complete a task, relevant portions of Google user data, such as the text of an email or details of a calendar event, are transmitted to Anthropic for processing. For example, an email may be processed to produce a summary or to decide whether it is important. Anthropic handles this data under its own terms and privacy policy.

Hugin Bud does not sell Google user data or disclose it to advertisers, data brokers, or information resellers. Google user data is not used to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

No other third-party providers receive Google user data. Hosting is on equipment controlled by the operator, as described below.

5. Data Storage

Hugin Bud runs on a private server at the operator’s home. The application stores OAuth authentication tokens, configuration settings, and limited records needed to complete tasks, such as message identifiers and the category assigned to each message.

Email message content and calendar details are processed temporarily in memory to complete a task and are not retained in a database or in application logs. Task and execution logs record only operational details, such as message identifiers, actions taken, and timestamps.

6. Data Security

Access to Hugin Bud is restricted to its operator. The application uses Google’s OAuth authorization process and does not collect or store Google account passwords. Credentials and OAuth tokens are kept in a password manager and on the private server, with access restricted to the operator. Communication with Google and Anthropic is encrypted using HTTPS.

7. Human Access

No person reads Google user data processed by Hugin Bud, other than the operator, except where necessary for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or with the operator’s consent.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

• OAuth credentials: stored until the operator revokes access or deletes them.

• Google user data: not retained beyond the processing needed to complete a task.

• Application logs: kept for up to 30 days and then deleted.

The operator may revoke Google account access at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/connections. Revoking authorization prevents further access but does not automatically delete information already stored by the application. Deletion of stored application data may be requested by contacting huginbud@gmail.com.

9. Google API Limited Use Disclosure

Hugin Bud’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide the authorized, user-facing assistant functionality described in this policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as the application develops or its integrations change. Material changes to the use of Google user data will be reflected in the published policy, and the effective date will be updated.
